The Chiefs’ and Petty Officers’ Mess at Stadacona Base in Halifax, now known as “Juno Tower,” is Nova Scotia’s and DND’s first LEED certified building.
This facility was built to accommodate Department of National Defence members visiting Halifax on training or short-term assignments.
The building includes a 12-storey, 148 unit residential/accommodation tower and a lower 3-storey section housing the Navy’s new Chiefs’, Petty Officers’ and Officers’ accommodations as well as barrier free, multi-purpose space including kitchens, cafeterias, office space, meeting rooms, seminar rooms, recreations spaces (bars/pubs), formal dining and reception rooms.
Dumac Energy provided complete mechanical and electrical consulting engineering services for this project, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, security, communications, plumbing, heating, ventilation , air-conditioning, fire protection and building automation system. It received the Award of Excellence from the Design Build Institute, its highest award, finishing 1st from submissions all across Canada.
